Laura was born on September 21, 2006 at 2:58am. She weighed 5 lbs 12oz and 19in long. She was so petite and carries that trait even today.

Laura's biological father, Israel, passed away April 6, 2007. He had severe depression and lost his job. Israel committed suicide right after Laura turned 6 months old. We were almost married for 5 years. Our marriage was very difficult with his depression and anger management issues. However, Israel gave me Laura and for that I will be forever thankful.

Israel and I tried on and off for about 6 months to get pregnant. Then it happened. I was sick of taking pregnancy tests, but one morning in February, Israel talked me into testing. Sure enough - there was a plus sign. Having cerebral palsy didn't affect the pregnancy really, but I had major morning sickness most of it. Plus my arms were swollen and very sore.

In June 2006, we found out I was having a girl! We both knew it and very excited! I got pink everything.  We named her Laura Therese.  Laura because it is not a common name but strong and Therese after St. Therese the Little Flower.

Laura came into the world at 37 weeks. I planned to have her vaginally but the csection was a better route. When I saw her, I was in awe how beautiful and perfect she was.

Laura is very smart - almost too smart sometimes for her own good. She is a very good kid, and I hear how polite she is from others. Laura just turned two when I met Jeff. Today she calls him Dad, but she knows all about Israel. She has two Dads - one here and one in Heaven.

  1. I'm not sure whether Laura is more beautiful in mind, body or spirit. All of her parents should be very proud of her and themselves.
